Optical Delusion 10/11/365

Bit of a bonkers day really, went to do a service call this morning and then had a couple of hours at home, went to do 2 tests this afternoon and both clients had ears full of wax, so will have to be revisited when it’s been cleared.

The main news is Yoyo went to the vet today as he still isn’t eating, washing, or coming indoors. He is in a bit of a state so Phil took a half day and took him to the vets. After she examined him told Phil she was pretty sure he had a tumour pressing on one kidney. He was only examined in August and it wasn’t apparent then, so it’s probably a fast onset tumour. We could have him scanned etc to find out for sure, but even if we did they’re not prepared to do major surgery on an old boy who probably wouldn’t survive an anaesthetic. So we just treat him conservatively until the end. He’s also got some kind of repetitive infection in his respiratory tract so is on antibiotics for that again. He’s out in the bushes as I write this, with black eye-snot all round his eyes, a really dirty under-carriage and feet, and just looks like a right neglecterino. It’s 10pm and we’ll fetch him in in a while and he’ll stay for a little bit, but then spend all night outside. Am dreading the frost and snow. It isn’t possible to keep him indoors, he just headbutts the catflap and howls. Phil’s going to make a little hut for him for outside so he has some protection from the weather. It’s so distressing. The vet says it’s common for older cats to go a bit doolally, but knowing that doesn’t make it any easier. I just want my old happy fluffy tickley Yoyo back. I love him.

Herky is fine thank god, at least he seems to have turned a corner and is settling down with his meds, no more seizure that we know of, and is his old lovey dovey self.

The photo is a variation on yesterday’s theme, and it kept my mind off things to make it.
