The weekend at last. Had an excellent time last night at the arena at the Bryan Adams concert, this is the second time I’ve been to see him, and would go again and again and again. His voice is awesome, how can he get older and not have any deterioration at all?? Still as fresh as he was 20 yrs ago. This was the Waking Up the Neighbours tour, and if you don’t have the album I urge you to buy it toot sweet!! Fantastic lyrics, great music and rock at it’s best. Have gogt most of his albums, and sang along with all the songs, just brilliant.
So, Herky. Hadn’t wanted to bang on about Herky’s ongoing thyroid situation, what with Yoyo just dying it all seemed too much. But over the past 2 weeks Herky’s seizures have been increasing. It’s so awful when it happens, one minute he’s OK and the next he just drops to the floor, then 10 seconds later he’s up and Ok, though subdued. The first time it happened we told the vet and she said to keep an eye on him, but the past 2 weeks he’s been doing it sometimes 3 or 4 times a day. Of course when we’re out at work all day it maybe it’s happening more often, however, what we’ve noticed is it only happens when he’s exerted himself, i.e climbing the stairs or onto a table or some such. So back to the vets this afternoon and she did a full blood test. To cut a long story short, his thyroid levels are reducing but not as quickly as hoped, but apart from that there’s nothing else wrong!! The vet thinks he’s not having seizures, as he doesn’t twitch, but is just fainting, when his heart beats too fast and he cant keep up with it. They’ve upped the thyroid hormone dosage and think we’ll notice an improvement in the next couple of weeks. Fingers and toes crossed. He is a bit subdued and I think knows not to exert himself anymore, he’s stopped coming upstairs for tickles and is spending a lot of time behind the living room chair asleep.
It’s been such a worry, especially after Yoyo, but I feelrelieved now, there’s no tumour, his liver and kidney’s are well healthy, his chest infection is sorted so isn’t coughing like he was, and just need to get on top of the thyroid thing.Phew.
Time for a wine or too methinks!!
