Went for a walk in Hedgefields woods today, opposite this lovely little church which is now not in use as they couldn’t raise the funds to convert it for disabled people. Opened in 1892 to serve the pit villages of Addison and Stargate, St Hilda's would have to install entrance ramps, a toilet for disabled people and a public announcement system.
Ironically, the congregation was moved to a much older building ( the Norman church of Holy Cross in Ryton Village, which was able to comply with the legislation.
Shame really, it’s pretty church and a grade 2 listed building, so it will just stand there til it rots I guess.
Nice sunshine today but didn’t get too many good photo’s. Going to cook Chinese soon and watch a movie.

Nice bit arch! Really like that ceramic masonry -combines really well texturally with the wood and brick.
