It’s been quite an eventful day today. Started off early up and at’em to get Phil to the garage for his car’s MOT and then brought him back home. The ex marine shower man turned up just after with his trusty assistant and got cracking on that. Phil sorted out all the unread bills and paperwork that he’s been piling up for a few weeks lol, and I’ve been playing potatoshop.

Then at 3pm Phil took Herky back to the vets. He’s been on antibiotics for a week now but his chesty cough hasn’t really got better. The vet thinks that may be fluid on his lungs from his newly diagnosed condition of hyperthyroidism. Apparently this is a common thing to happen to older cats, and Herky’s levels of the thyroid hormone are way up.

There are 2 methods of treatment, the first is a complete cure whereby we would have to send Herky off to Glasgow in Scotland for 3 weeks while they zap him with radioactive iodine. This cures the problem completely, but it costs £1000. Now, if I had to I could scrape that together, but, the thought of Herky being away for 3 weeks and not understanding what’s going on- I think it would really freak him out badly, he’s a sensitive soul.

The other method is for him to take a tablet twice a day, and whilst it isn’t a cure it stabilises the condition and puts the cat to rights. This is the option we’ve decided upon. In the long run it’ll cost more, what with £30/month tablets and costs for blood tests etc etc, but that’s neither here nor there. The main thing is he can stay with us and be loved and fussed over, which he likes a lot.

So hopefully it won’t be too long til he’s back to his normal self. The shower man golt both our showers installed by 4.30pm which was great and we’ve cleaned up and put the house back to normal, fetched Phil’s car (new brakes & discs –ouch!) and had a yumbalicious dinner of steak & dumplings with green beans and roast taty’s, one of Phil’s specialities – it’s great to have a man wot cooks ☺

Now I’m playing photographs again and Phil’s playing the bass.

Going to have a shower soon though lol can’t wait to try it out. NO MORE FAT DRIP…..YAYAYAYAY!!!
