Yet another day where plans went out the window ☺ ! Well we got up early with all intention to head up to Aydon Castle, but as we sat in the conservatory having brekkie, the Dark Clouds of Mordor were forming above us so we thought we’d better think again! We have been talking about getting a Bar-B-Q for a few years now, as I used to love doing them and having a load of friends and neighbours round and sit in the warm evenings with a glass of wine, and someone playing guitar when I lived down south. (Of course ‘down south’ is always at least 4 degs warmer than up here so this may never be possible! But one lives in hope!!)
Anyway, we decided instead of going to Aydon castle we’d go to B&Q and buy ourselves a nice BBQ, so we can invite our family and friends round in summer. B&Q was heaving with folk- haven’t they got better things to do on Bank Holiday Monday?? ☺ but we chose our item, got a gas bottle (no charcoal necessary- been there, done that- this time gas!) and then had an almighty struggle to get it in the car as I’d left half my work stuff in it! Then of course we decided we’d better go and get something to cook on it- so went to Asda on the way home. Asda was even MORE heaving with people than B&Q- really I just don’t get it! It’s supposed to be a holiday !!
Also trogged into Halfords to get a new bike seat- my bum is really sore after our bike ride yesterday and so have purchased a gel cover- hope it does the trick!
Back at the ranch we rearranged out garden 3 times before we figured out where to put the BBQ and then got to unpacking it. Didn’t realize it all came in pieces and had to put it together! Phil did a magnificent job as the instructions were worse than you get on MFI furniture and I held things and did as told whilst he got it all together and eventually we had it up and running. Of course we had to try it out and we cooked some chicken and burgers and giant mushrooms, and it was all very yummy.
Back to work tomorrow, only 3 days this week as Friday is the Royal Wedding, not interested in that in the slightest so hopefully everyone will be off the roads and glued to their TV or in the pub, and I can go to Aydon Castle- if the weather’s OK, fingers xt. In the mean time working long long hours this week tomake up for only having 3 days ☹ nevermind – it’s all in a good cause…ME!
