Follow the yellow brick road. 30/3/365

After a beautiful drive yesterday, today I went in the opposite direction, south to Loftus in North Yorkshire, another place with lovely scenery, but today was just a grey haze all day. Saw my nice old lady who is getting on fine with her hearing aids, and then headed back up to the A19 to Faringdon, a suburb of Sunderland, where all the road titles begin with the letter ‘A’. Sunderland people are known as Makem’s up here, and they are strange!!!! Saw another gorgeous old lady, Letitia who bought hearing aids from me a couple of months ago and is really happy with them. I don’t really need to see her as she’s getting on so well, but she’s had such an interesting life and is so sweet, I like to visit now and again just for a chat.

The elderly people in this England are not treated that well by the NHS or the Government, nor by young people for that matter, on the whole they get a rough deal, and it’s such a shame. All that knowledge, experience and wisdom to be tapped into, I love them all, my hearing aid people, they’re all so sprightly and have a fantastic view of the world. Quite a lot of people I come across won’t wear hearing aids because they think it will make them look old, I say, haha, there’s nothing that gives away your oldness more than saying to everyone – eh? Sorry? Pardon? You’ll have to repeat that!!!!

All hearing aid people say it’s given them a new lease of life, they can go out and socialise with much more confidence and be part of the world again. Hearing well keeps you youthful!

Anyway then I came home to a tax code notice that’s completely wrong to my detriment! I rang the tax office helpline and was on hold for 18 minutes and 46 seconds, the holding muzak was incredibly annoying and every 2 minutes a recorded womans voice told me ‘thank you for holding, one of our assistants will be with you shortly!!’ left the phone on my desk with the speaker on in the end, got involved in doing some work and got a shock when some bloke said ‘how may I help you? Anyway he sorted it all out so 18 mins of phone bill was worth it I guess.

What’s this all to do with the picture? Nothing much except I took it from the bottom of Letitia’s road, and it reminded me of The Wizard of Oz, except the picture is a Yellow Daffodil Road, and it brightened up a grey day.
