My grandad and his best friend Bill (Cpl Harrold) joined up together in the RE's in 1915, and went all through the war together until Cpl Harrold was killed, 3 days after returning from leave home, where he had just got married. My Grandad died when I was 6, and I found all this out by research after finding clues in my Mum's papers, after she died. I eventually went to France and found the grave of Bill, so I could pay my respects on my lovely Grandad's behalf. Finally got round to processing the photograph.
